Yes, I am seeing the same things with the exception that I can still see the screen using VNC (x0rfbserver on the machine with the black screen). The cursor is still visible on the physical screen, just nothing else. If I disable all screensaving and power management, it doesn't go black anymore, so this is definitely something to do with the screen saver. I am using an nvidia fx5200 with the 8774 driver.
