You can already write apps to run on Gnome in C# - use Mono. If you are 
suggesting Gnome itself be rewritten in C#, why?  Unless you are helping 
with the development of Gnome (as opposed to apps running on top of 
Gnome), the language Gnome is written in is totally transparent to you.
