sending quit-event

Hi there,
I'm searching how to quit a single window with a terminal-command.
The Problem:
I want to remote-control firefox, open a new window (this works) and than close the window. When I try xwininfo & xkill, all firefox-windows are closed.
Is there a way to send a simple quit/close-event to the firefox-window?

Michael
