Re: Sound Problem

Firstly, I don't have much experience with Debian, so really your best
bet for getting a decent answer to your question is to try a Debian
mailing list or forum. Also you can try googling for the text of your
error message, or 'nforce2 sound debian sarge', or something.

The fact that KDE and Gnome won't work, but xmms does is a little
strange. I don't have xmms installed anymore, but I know you can look
among the options for a dialogue that allows you to choose the sound
output system. Read it, it should probably say OSS or ALSA or ESD, what
ever it is, I guess that is the one that is working! There should be a
control center applet called Multimedia System Selector, check that it
is set to the system that works (in my case its ALSA)

Also, try making sure you have the latest kernel installed, possibly
getting packages from Sid if you need to.

Best of luck.

Cheers,
Ryan
