 I presume you have already downloaded and installed hicolor-icon-theme
from freedesktop.org, as this was also neccessary in my case.

All that stuff is installed, but it has been no help. I've been looking over the docs I can find, but yet to find much that might help with trouble shooting. I have my gnome installed in /usr/local/gnome26 instead of /usr/ or /usr/local/ I wonder if that could cause my problem?
