Re: Cannot lock screen in gnome

I have xscreensaver installed and running fine. When I specify that I want the screen to lock after an hour in the xscreesaver options, the screen locking works fine. But aren't I supposed to be able to lock the screen without starting the screensaver? I know I could do this on my previous install (RH 7.3). When you click on the menu, there is an option for logging out, and one for locking the screen. The log out works fine (but is *slow*), but the screen locking does not work.
