"Alt+F2" awfully slow sometimes

Hi all,

here is an issue that I have with gnome desktop for which I would like
to see an improvement:

When I type "Alt-F2" in order to get the "Run application", sometimes
I have to wait 3-5 seconds to see either the window or the content of
it. This obviously is an undesired behaviour for a window which should
help me get to run a program as fast as possible.

Having used this "Alt+F2" tip on KDE for a long time, I can say now
that being a GNOME user, I miss the speed of KDE for that.

Can anybody point me, I suppose inside gnome-panel, to the code that
controls this "Run application" window?

Thanks in advance,

    Albert.
