when I issue the command gnome-session I get the following error:

sh-2.05b# gnome-session

SESSION_MANAGER=local/sola.pollybutte.net:/tmp/.ICE-unix/14027

Gnome-Message: gnome_execute_async_with_env_fds: returning -1

Window manager warning: Screen 0 on display ":0.0" already has a window manager

** (gnome-panel:5791): WARNING **: Unable to load panel stock icon 'go'

Window manager warning: Screen 0 on display ":0.0" already has a window manager

Unable to open desktop file applications:///nautilus.desktop for panel launcher:

Error reading file 'applications:///nautilus.desktop': File not found

I am running OpenBSD on an intel box.   The Gnome desktop session terminal … and every other type of gnome pkg I could find for the this OS is installed.  I thought that the desktop was suppose to start upon logon but it dose not.

After I logon from the command prompt I have to issue the command startx, which starts fine.  Then I run gnome sessions and get the above error.

This is a relatively new box with no users added, so I am running the commands logged in as root.

The root directory looks like this:

bash-2.05b# ls

.ICEauthority       .gconf              .gtkrc-1.2-gnome2   XF86Config.new

.Xauthority         .gconfd             .klogin             commands

.bash_history       .gnome              .login              error

.cshrc              .gnome2             .mozilla

.esd_auth           .gnome2_private     .profile

.fonts.cache-1      .gnome_private      .recently-used

bash-2.05b# pwd

/root

bash-2.05b#
