Hi, I have been experiencing a problem with gnome-terminal 2.5.x (both 2.5.0 and CVS head after 2.5.1) and vte 0.11.x (I have tried CVS head and 0.11.10). I am running them on Solaris 8 (sparc) and everything was compiled with gcc-3.3.2. I'm sorry, BTW, that I'm not subscribed but I can't afford to store the volume of messages in my webmail account. There are three problems: 1. Involves some kind of pause that the process goes into after scolling the text area. e.g. if I do an 'ls' command a couple of times such that the window scrolls twice, I then try to open a menu e.g. "Terminal" and the menu does not appear for up to 2 seconds. 2. There is a huge pause when I attempt to select text - over 13 seconds. If I then press a key or attempt to deselect there is another similar pause. I have updated to the latest glib 2.3.1, gtk+2.3.1 just in case and I have tried the latest source releases and CVS head versions of vte and gnome-terminal. I have updated Metacity to the CVS head version and got the latest libwnck, libbonobo and have got ORBit 2.9.1 (haven't tried older ORBit). Some other problems have been resolved by thios combination of updates and CVS versions (e.g. window resizing pauses and pressing backspace caused little boxes to be printed instead of moving back) but the big menu and selection pauses are still there. I hope that this is useful to someone. Perhaps I will be able to work out how to get gprof to produce some profiling information which will indicate the source of the problem more precisely.
