GNOME Development release 2.5.0 -------------------------------------------------------------- The first development release of the GNOME 2.5.0 "Obviously you're not a golfer" is out Garnome 0.28.2 has also been released. GARNOME is a distribution of GNOME, based on the GAR ports system by Nick Moffitt. New GAIM launches -------------------------------------------------------------- The GAIM hackers have released version 0.73 featuring a new logging format, spell checker fixes, translation updates and more. That released was shortly followed by a version 0.74 release. GStreamer 0.7.2 released -------------------------------------------------------------- The latest release of unstable branch of Gstreamer adds full support for wma and aac. And it adds some support for wmv and quicktime. Evolution Updates -------------------------------------------------------------- The Evolution hackers are still tweaking the UI of the upcoming Evolution release. There has been a new proposal for the UI of signed and encrypted messages It has been proposed that Evolution be included in the core GNOME system. A lengthy discussion has ensued in the d-d-l. The Evolution website now has an iCalendar file that contains the Evolution 2.0 schedule. Expose Metacity with Expocity -------------------------------------------------------------- If you have been drooling over that latest feature in Mac OS X, called Expos, well don't despair, for Expocity is here. When you use a Expocity powered Metaciy, after pressing a keystroke, your window manager will present you a complete overview of all open windows and you can select the window, you want to switch to, visually. Bluefish 0.12 Released -------------------------------------------------------------- Bluefish 0.12 features project management, a better user interface (for example a reworked menu, and improved keyboard navigation), support for remote files using gnome-vfs, a nicer user interface (many new icons and buttons, and general user interface cleanups), many bug fixes and much more. Bluefish is a powerful editor for experienced web designers and programmers. GIMP 1.3.23 released -------------------------------------------------------------- This release fixes numerous bugs. It also gives the libgimp APIs as well as the user interface some final polishing. The GIMP now handles multi-screen and Xinerama setups reasonably well. The preferences dialog features a new theme selector so everyone can use the Small theme even w/o reading the docs. GIMP plug-ins finally use the same color selector as the core and some work has been done on improving the framework for color display filters. The addition of a simple color proof display filter is a first step on integrating color management. The GIMP is the GNU Image Manipulation Program.
