Upgrading from 3.6.9 to 3.12.x -- intermediate steps required?

Hi,

I'm running a cluster on 3.6.9 and am planning to upgrade to the latest
3.12.x version. I am able to schedule a downtime for the upgrade.

Do I need to take intermediate steps, i.e. upgrade 3.6 -> 3.8 -> 3.12,
or is upgrading from 3.6.9 -> 3.12.x fine (given the cluster is offline)?
