Release notes are still pending, other comments *inline*.

Tomorrow we will release beta1 for the package maintainers to roll out the packages.

Update day 2:

1) Brick multiplexing patch is merged into master, and now backported to
release-3.10. Yay!

Please review the backport and provide the scores, so that a merge and
possible beta1 tarball creation can happen tomorrow.

Backport: https://review.gluster.org/#/c/16496/

The above is merged.

2) Thanks for reviews on https://review.gluster.org/#/c/15745/ these
comments have been addressed by Jeff, so if final(?) review scores can
be updated, this can also be backported and merged to release-3.10.

Thanks Nithya, I completed the review and this is in.

Jeff, request a backport to 3.10 branch

3) There are no reviews for https://review.gluster.org/#/c/15645/

Request, Xavi, Niels and Poornima (who have reviewed the patch earlier)
to take a look at it.

Thanks Xavi, looks like Jeff has addressed your comments, so if you get a chance, score this again (or as per your last comment where you had no major exceptions to the patch we will take it in)

4) I am not seeing release notes being updated (other than glusterd
related changes).

Request (in order of features listed in the release-notes), Jeff,
Nithya, Hari, Kaleb, Poornima, Niels, Anoop, to please provide the
required notes as commits, or respond here that there are none for their
feature. This is important for the beta.

Thanks Kaleb, Nithya for the release notes. I am still awaiting the same from others, please respond, I am waiting one last day for this before rolling with commit messages and my understanding of the feature into the release notes.

Thanks,
Shyam

Hi,

Before the release of 3.10 beta1, we are awaiting the merge of the
following commits on master, and a backport of the same into the 3.10
branch. All these commits relate to the brick multiplexing feature, and
hence I request concerned developers attention towards reviewing the
same and providing the required review scores.

# Patches pending review/merge and backport:
- https://review.gluster.org/14763 (core: run many bricks within one
glusterfsd process)

- https://review.gluster.org/15645 (libglusterfs: make memory pools more
thread-friendly)

- https://review.gluster.org/15745 (libglusterfs+transport+io-threads:
fix 256KB stack abuse)

# Release notes pending:
We further need release notes per feature updated in the 3.10.0 release
notes. This [1] is an initial commit for the same, I will be merging it
if the regressions pass, else request Raghavendra Talur to nurture it in
the IST TZ, so that others can start adding commits that update this
page.

When doing so, please use the BZ as in [2] for the commit.

Please try an update the release notes for your feature ASAP, so that we
do not hold back beta1 for the same.

# Current beta1 target date: 01-Feb-2017

# Further schedule
Once we have beta1 ready, we would need to get testing feedback from the
community, and also testing feedback from the maintainers before
releasing. Your assistance and timeliness in this phase is needed, to
get a quality release out, so request some attention on testing in the
near future.

Thanks,
Shyam
