Hi Pranith,

Thank you for your reply!

I read the artical (https://brainpan.io/wiki/GlusterFS_Build_Steps), it emphasize "This
distribution and replication would be used when your clients are external
to the cluster, not local self-mounts." It refer to the gluster nfs-server and nfs-client on same machine ?

Between If i have 2 node each with 3 physical disk inside, each physical disk size
is 1 TB, i want to create replica of 2, may i know the command below
correct ?

gluster volume create test-volume replica 2
node1:/exp1/brick1 node2:/exp2/brick2
node1:/exp1/brick3 node2:/exp2/brick4
node1:/exp1/brick5 node2:/exp2/brick6

below is what i expecting :

   - usable space is 3 TB
   - replica 3TB
   - node1:/exp1/brick1 is replicated with node2:/exp2/brick2
   - node1:/exp1/brick3 is replicated with node2:/exp2/brick4
   - node1:/exp1/brick5 is replicated with node2:/exp2/brick6

Is my above expectation valid ? using Gluster 3.8.

Appreciate for any advice and suggestion.

Looks good to me.

You can mount this volume using fuse on both the nodes.

mount -t glusterfs node1:/testvolume <path/to/mount>

Please don't hesitate to include gluster-users email-address in CC, it may help someone who is googling for the exact question you are looking for an answer to in future..

Best Regards,
Jason

Hi,

Can i do local self-mounts on Glusterfs Distributed-Replicated mode?

Are you asking for fuse mounts on the same servers which are used as bricks? Yeah this is not a problem. But gluster nfs-server and nfs-client on same machine will lead to hangs. This is not particular to gluster. Even nfs client and nfs server on same machine leads to hangs.

Much appreciate for any advice and suggestion.

Thanks.
Jason
