Hi,
You should not delete any file manually. Most of the time it is not safe.
I would suggest to run gluster v heal <volname> info to see if there are files to be healed.
You can execute "gluster v heal <volname>" to heal any file present in heal info command. You could also try "gluster v heal <volname> full" for scanning and healing each and every file of your volume.
However, it would take long time depending on the size of data.
Still if you see this issue, please send volume info and status along with heal info and glustershd logs.

We have a few 4 way replicated volumes but one of the volumes has 4
xattrop files on a couple of the bricks that don't seem to have a
corresponding linked file within .glusterfs/XX/YY/. The other bricks
don't have any lingering xattrop files.
Is it safe to delete these?
This is gluster 3.6.3.
