Fwd: [Gluster-devel] proposal to remove the qemu-block xlator from master branch

It's not clear to some of us that anyone is using this xlator.

The associated contrib/qemu sources are very old, and there is nobody currently maintaining it. It would take a substantial effort to update it – to what end, if nobody actually uses it?

Bundled in the source, the way it is now, is strongly discouraged by at least one major Linux distribution.

The patch under review as an RFC at http://review.gluster.org/13473 proposes to remove the source from the glusterfs master branch. Thus it would not be in the upcoming 3.8 and later releases.

Any objections? Any comments? Please reply to the list mailto:gluster-devel@xxxxxxxxxxx
