NFS vs native fuse

Hi,

I've seen a lot of talk about mounting gluster volumes via NFS, but
despite searching around, I can't find (apart from performance in some
cases) why you'd want to do this.

I thought writing to a volume other than via the native client was
discouraged. Or ... do people just NFS mount gluster volumes read-only?
