Support for hard links

Hello everybody,

I'm using GlusterFS as file system for our enterprise cloud. I need to copy some big files (more than 500 GB) within the same folder, just with a different name, and I don't want to occupy new space and to wait for the copy to be complete.
Using a soft link is out of question, because if I delete the original file the link will be lost as well, so my question is if hard links always work with no problems, even if the the new file is in a different brick.
Thank you in advance and best regards,
