       Then my understanding is that both GlusterFS server/client codes can be licensed under LGPL. Is it right?

GlusterFS did undergo a few revisions of license changes. We have finally settled on dual licensed "GPL v2 / LGPL v3 or later" - for all the code in glusterfs.git outside contrib/.
