Hi Paul,

if peers are identified by host names instead of IP addresses, the vol files will contain names that can be translated to the public addresses of the brick nodes. This can be done using custom hosts files, different DNS configurations or a mix.

For example you could have a hosts file in the brick nodes that resolve all host names to the IP addresses of the internal network. On the public network you can have a DNS configured to resolve the same host names to the public addresses of the same nodes.

Hi Joe,

Bernhard has his gluster environment on a private network, so won't that mean that the vol file that would be sent to a gluster client will contain the address on the private network - which won't be reachable from his client side network?

GlusterFS listens on all addresses so it's simply a matter of having your hostnames resolve to the IP you want any particular node to resolve to.

Hi all

I have a replica 2 glustervolume.

both hosts are connected through a private network/crosslink

(on a different network address range)
Is there a way that a client can mount a glustervolume
without enabling ipforward on the server?

TIA
