I've seen issues with GlusterFS and rsync.  They were mostly ameliorated by adding --inplace to my rsync arguments.

There were also quite a few cases were there were directories that were empty except for a bunch of "mode 1000" files.

The system in question is used as a mirror of a file system which is used quite heavily, new files are created, old ones are deleted (and quite often recreated). I use rsync to update the system, like

rsync -vau --delete live:/gluster_1/ mirror:gluster_2/

Could the issues I'm experiencing be connected to the way I use rsync?
