This would be great.  For example, the page:
http://www.gluster.org/community/documentation/index.php/Translators/performance
states that flush-behind is off by default while
http://www.gluster.org/wp-content/uploads/2012/05/Gluster_File_System-3.3.0-Administration_Guide-en-US.pdf
states that flush-behind is on by default.  (surprising as usually
default settings are conservative).

By having a get option, a user could self deconflict.
