Hi Phillip. I am faced with the same situation - whether it's correct or not, I'm just using rsync -avx from the original setup to the new storage. I know rsync has extra overhead but capturing the output lets me do a check that then number of files copied = the number of files sourced. If that seems a bad idea to anyone I'm open to better suggestions :) James Burnash Unix Engineer Knight Capital Group From: gluster-users-bounces at gluster.org [mailto:gluster-users-bounces at gluster.org] On Behalf Of Philip Poten Sent: Tuesday, October 25, 2011 2:57 PM To: gluster-users at gluster.org Subject: Moving contents of disks/nodes to a new installation of glusterfs? I sent that mail to the list once already, I don't know if it was held up in moderation or just lost. Hi, for various reasons I can not just set up new nodes and extend the cluster, I need to replace it. Wrong machines, wrong disks, you get the idea. Now, the current setup is distributed replication setup with two disks on two nodes like that: a:b, A:B The new setup will be two nodes with four disks: a:b:c:d, A:B:C:D can i just cp -a the contents of my original setup on the corresponding disks in the new setup? Will the extended attributes be correct? If not, what would be the issues? thanks a bunch in advance for any insight, Philip DISCLAIMER: This e-mail, and any attachments thereto, is intended only for use by the addressee(s)named herein and may contain legally privileged and/or confidential information.
