Hi All:

You have probably noticed over the last month we have started rolling
out Gluster as a virtual appliance - packaged in several versions of VM
- to simplify the deployment and management of the product. To date
there are three versions: for VMware, an Amazon Web Services (AWS) AMI,
and a RackSpace template for AWS; Xen and KVM versions are on the
roadmap. The GlusterFS version in the appliances is functionally
identical to the open source version, however since integrated with
third party products they are only offered with a commercial subscription.

If you are looking to do a quick evaluation or functional assessment of
Gluster for your project, you may find it quicker and easier to start
with one of the 30 day free trial versions of the virtual appliances. By
using AWS you eliminate the need to obtain or configure any hardware,
and the Gluster Virtual Appliance for VMware can be run on virtually any
VMware certified hardware you have available.
