df: `/mnt/ext': Transport endpoint is not connected

Hi Mohit.

The gluster native client handles failover transparently if one of the server storage machines fails / crashes.

What you have done is stopped the volume from being accessible - which can be done from any server participating in that volume.

If you want to test failover, do a 'service network stop' on the server which you wish to fail, and then check from your gluster native client.

Don't do a gluster volume stop <volname>. That will make the volume inaccessible to all clients.

Thanks,

James Burnash, Unix Engineering

Subject: df: `/mnt/ext': Transport endpoint is not connected

I have 2 gluster servers server1 and server2. I am also using gluser
native client to take advantage of failover.

I was trying to do a failure testing but what I see is that when I
stop volume on one of the gluster servers I see:

df: `/mnt/ext': Transport endpoint is not connected

I thought if native gluster is used then it will also take care of
failover for eg: if server1 goes down it will still service requests
to server2?
