Gluster expand volume question

[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index]

Hi

I am new at gluster and just tested it.

I sucessfully set up a volume replicated with the"replica count of 2"
and all was good.
Now I have around 146Gb data advertised on my share as i should be
server1 and server2 are 146Gb each.

So I wanted to expand this volume so I created and added two more servers
"
gluster> peer status
Number of Peers: 3

Hostname: 10.1.220.65
Uuid: 51e2530f-85bf-49f3-91a7-d8add2166bdc
State: Peer in Cluster (Connected)

Hostname: 10.1.220.64
Uuid: 65d85a9d-f2a8-41f7-811a-19de8efb2bc9
State: Peer in Cluster (Connected)

Hostname: 10.1.220.63
Uuid: 383f53df-78ec-4ca2-aca0-87cf834c2932
State: Peer in Cluster (Connected)
"
server3 and server4, now they have about 155Gb each where I created the
"Bricks"
gluster> volume info

Volume Name: test-volume
Type: Distributed-Replicate
Status: Started
Number of Bricks: 2 x 2 = 4
Transport-type: tcp
Bricks:
Brick1: 10.1.220.62:/data/test-volume
Brick2: 10.1.220.63:/data/test-volume
Brick3: 10.1.220.64:/data/test-volume
Brick4: 10.1.220.65:/data/test-volume

But at the client there is only advertised 155Gb, not 146+155Gb as I
expected.

Why is that? What could I have done wrong?
I have executed the "gluster volume rebalance" command, but no change.

I followed the guide
http://support.zresearch.com/community/documentation/index.php/Gluster_3.1:_Expanding_Volumes
I did notice that they use "Type: Distribute" not replicate as I do.

Regards
Mikael
