couple separate issues: automounting and OpenOffice

well... i think i've solved this one...
  i'd like to thank Filipe Maia for mentioning the extra locking
  feature translator needed to be active for POSIX locking to work...
i remembered the volume i was checking was a raw posix storage
  volume... i reconfigured the volume behind a posix-locks
  translator and this problem cleared up completely...

so, this reduces my problem count to the same non-blocking issue
  that a lot of others have run into, and which has already been
  addressed and discussed as a likely future development...
