We would definitely love patches. I think you should try to follow how ftruncate fop is implemented for a similar fop implementation.
Take a look at:
1) ec_gf_ftruncate
2) ec_ftruncate
3) ec_wind_ftruncate
4) ec_manager_truncate(truncate, ftruncate reuse this function)

Feel free to send any more questions you may have.
