symbolic links

I'm pretty sure this has already been posted, but is there a fix or a work-around for symbolic links not working in the 1.4 pre-releases? All symbolic links break if they reference any path that is not the current one.

Ex:
cd /mnt/glustermount
mkdir test
mkdir top
cd test
ln -s ../top linkedtop
ls -l

lrwxrwxrwx  1 root root 3 Oct 27 19:40 linkedtop -> top

(it should read "linkedtop -> ../top")

Thanks!
