Hi Daniel,
Thanks for the answer!
I would like to setup my storage cluster with actual partition (2TB) and
after setup the same boxes with one big 10TB partition on each box. My
goal is to compare the two solutions in terms of performance.
I have a supplementary question: Is it possible to configure glusterfs
with more than one partition in a brick? If yes, what's the syntax to use?
Thanks,
Fabrice

Hi all,
I need some advices for configuration of our brand new storage boxes
with glusterfs.
We have 2 boxes with each 10TB of disk space. This disk space is
separated in 2TB partitions by autocarving on
hardware controller. I want to aggregate all that disk space with
glusterfs. I don't want to have HA.
I know that it's possible. But I would like to know what's the "good
practice" to implement this configuration.
Thanks in advance,
Fabrice
Fabrice,
I installed a small cluster last week and I also had problems creating
partitions with disks bigger than 2TB. This howto helped-me a lot:
http://www.unixgods.org/~tilo/larger_2TB.html
<http://www.unixgods.org/%7Etilo/larger_2TB.html>. In a few words, use
parted to make the partitions and a different partition label called
gpt. Maybe you will need to recompile your kernel.
If you only want to aggregate the space together and have a 20TB
"disk" for you clients, them try reading
http://www.gluster.org/docs/index.php/GlusterFS_Multi-server_Config_Example.
If you also want to do HA, having a copy of every file on both
servers, then you will need AFR, read
http://www.gluster.org/docs/index.php/GlusterFS_Translators#AFR_Example_in_Clustered_Mode.
If you are just starting with GlusterFS, I think you should also read
http://www.gluster.org/docs/index.php/Getting_Started_with_GlusterFS.
