i couldn't locate the other email, but was told that the permission denied
problem
was because of the file permissions. i tried chmod 777 on the namespace
directory
and it still gave the permission denied problem. The problem is that if the
namespace is a link,
it gives the error. If it is a direct mount point, I don't see a problem.

I did see the same problem even after remounting the client. I moved the
namespace files back to the original location, and things worked again --
evidently you can't just move the namespace files. The other thing I did
was point the brick to a soft link. What is the correct procedure to move
namespace files?

Do you see the Input/Output error even after remouting the client? the
fuse
kernel modules sends this error when it encounters an unexpected inode
number change (caused by moving your namespace to a seperate disk).
Regarding the permission denied error, please check the permissions of the
parent directories where you have moved the namespace.
