Sorry, I made a mistake in my wording. Maybe it was too late that night.

I got the error if any single brick was down at client startup. If all bricks
are up at startup, then it worked fine.

This is because we return ENOENT error if all the servers return -1 (due to
connection not established).
We can't return success if all the servers are not reachable. Hence you get
that error.
