Better advertise Git for GSoC ?

Hi all,

So far we've had the fortune of working with many good contributors over these years via GSoC. Some have even turned out to be regular contributors to the project post GSoC. To gather GSoC contributors, we don't usually rely much on explicit advertising of the Git project's participation in GSoC (AFAIK) and this hasn't usually been a point of concern for us.

Regardless, Google is now considering providing some options to expend our possibility of gathering candidates who are not yet aware of the Git project. I thought of bringing this to the notice of the community and hearing your thoughts about it. The options are:

  1. Community discussions
  2. Org highlight video

## Community discussions

Google is planning to conduct virtual meetups where attendees can share their GSoC and open source journey with a 10-15 minute pre-recorded talk during each session. This video would live in the Google Open Source YouTube channel.

This is more of an individual thing. Some details and interest could be specified through the following link: https://forms.gle/cbGNSNTaLewT34TY7

## Org highlight video

The highlight video would be a short 2-3 minutes video about the organization. This could include some quick highlights of projects that contributors have completed over the years, what contributors could learn by contributing to Git.

Videos will be featured on the Google Open Source YouTube channel and will be available for the GSoC contributors to know more about the Git project.

I wanted to hear the thoughts of others in making a highlight video for the Git project. This might be a bit of a big undertaking that involves planning. It might be worth the effort, though.

The immediate milestone for now is to mention our interest before 14Aug2022 to Google. So, do share your thoughts about whether it would be worthwhile to make an Org highlight video for Git [note 1].

[note 1]: I personally feel it would be a worthwhile one to do.
