So...

$ du -hs .
11M     .
$ rm -rf .git/refs/original/
$ vi .git/packed-refs
# Remove the line referring to refs/original...
$ git reflog expire --all
$ git gc --aggressive --prune
$ du -hs .
11M     .

It's still 11MB.

Any other ideas?
