What's in git.git (stable)

Maybe I should name this message "Git Street Journal", but I am
a traditionalist, so here is a good old "What's in".

There are a few things that are not in 'maint' yet, but I would
like to have:

 - a solution to "git rm this && git commit this" issue. Maybe
the one I asked Gerrit to test and got a positive response
would be good enough, but I am undecided.

 - teaching "git grep -c foo -- this-file that-file" not to talk
about /dev/null is also a 'maint' matter.

There aren't anything surprising on 'master' this round. Little
fixes here and there.
