[BUG REPORT] Intermittent errors: Unable to create '/usr/ports/.git/index.lock': File exists.

[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index]

Once every ~20 times I call 'git commit' it fails like this:

$ git commit .
fatal: Unable to create '/usr/ports/.git/index.lock': File exists.

Another git process seems to be running in this repository, e.g.
an editor opened by 'git commit'. Please make sure all processes
are terminated then try again. If it still fails, a git process
may have crashed in this repository earlier:
remove the file manually to continue.

There's no other instance.

It usually succeeds next time.

git-2.32.0
