Indeed, that step right there will stop many users cold in their
tracks.

Who the hell has their Windows 2000 CD-ROM handy?  Or wants to open a
CD-ROM drive?  Or wants to wait for a 40x CD-ROM to spin up and copy
data?  Who even still has a CD-ROM drive connected to a computer?
(I usually don't have any optical media drive attached...)

Where's the damn URL to download setup.exe?  Where's the webpage
with the Internet Explorer buffer overflow exploit to automatically
install the software for the user?  Why doesn't it create a thousand
icons on the desktop, obscuring the user's picture of their kitty?
