I took a final pass at these commit messages to normalize them, since they are all basically doing the same thing, and obviously I screwed up a bit of cut-and-paste. (Normally I'd say that is a sign they should be lumped together, but the diffs are so noisy due to the caller updates that I think it was worth keeping them split). -Peff
