I was not sure what to expect, and thus was surprised by _that_ many 
diagonal lines...

But this picture -- unexpected as it was -- makes tons of sense if you are 
interested to see e.g. the history of a topic branch which was merged into 
'next'.

So, I'm all in favour of this feature.
