I just downloaded and installed the latest version (2.1.13):

% strings /usr/lib/libefence.a | grep BANNER
LLEF_DISABLE_BANNER
 EF_DISABLE_BANNER
EF_DISABLE_BANNER
EF_DISABLE_BANNER
EF_DISABLE_BANNER
