In the bigger picture, what is important is "why" than "how". You add a handy way to give list of possible compilation flags and add as many of them as we can without triggering errors to CFLAGS and LDFLAGS. Why is that a good thing to do? What kind of compilation flags you are planning to throw at these macros?
