Having said all that, I do not mean to advocate to retain "-q". Most likely nobody uses it, and "-q" is grossly misnamed ("why is it so special to be "quiet" only for removals?"). As long as we mention its removal in the release notes (and possibly tell those miniscule minority that wants to ignore deleted files to use --diff-filter instead), we should be OK.
