Okay, let's see if we can all agree.

In a different email, you wrote:

Here, I'd argue for (d): push to branch.master.pushremote/
branch.master.remote/ remote.pushdefault/ origin.  If others agree on
this, we can break "matching" appropriately, like I proposed earlier,
to make everything consistent once again.
