It seems there's been some white-space damage when this patch was
applied (some spaces have been dropped, they were there in the
original); it doesn't match the imported gnulib source code any more.
Unfortunate because the commit message claims it's verbatim, but
probably not a big deal.

I'm in the process of patching up gnulib, and did a test-update of the
gnulib code. The large diff baffled me a bit at first ;)
