Maintaing database schemas using GIT

Hi,

I am interested in maintaing database schemas using GIT. I found very
promising tool apgdiff http://apgdiff.sourceforge.net/ that I believe
can be used to manage other databases than postrgresql.

My problem is:

How to make git process sql dumps differently then other text and
binary files - apply apgdiff to them and eventually provide some merge
functionality?
Is this possible? Is this sensible rational?

What do you think?
Thanks,
Bartek
