Who maintains the documentation? In git-branch, -l Create the branch's reflog. This activates recording of all changes made to the branch ref, enabling use of date based sha1 expressions such as "<branchname>@{yesterday}". the implication is that if you don't use this flag, the feature is not enabled or activated. I do see upon reviewing the User's Manual etc. that it no longer tells you to use the -l flag.
