"git reset" uin general does not ever try to make HEAD special - except as a _default_ location, of course, and as the thing that is actually modified. I realize _why_ (HEAD is kind of the "base" for the index state), but I think it's worth a comment or something. I did a double-take when I saw that part of the diff exactly because it's unusual.
