This works out of the box for makefile projects that use msvc for compilation. Sure, for my gcc-setup, yeah. But how is that being a stack of work-arounds relevant in this context? I'm not arguing either way here - I'm perfectly happy to stick with MinGW. I'm just saying that one of the problems you pointed out is not really a problem.
