No, but after two funny things, I've decided that the first thing to do is back up the directory, so I can study it later.  So next time something funny happens, I'll be better able to reproduce it after putting effort into making it go away.

I have yet to rebuild msysgit myself.  Even so, it's not my normal working environment and I have no idea how to fire up a debugger with it.
