I'm currently using git-1.2.6 which has "exit" signal (git-clone.sh: trap 'err=$?; cd ..; rm -r "$D"; exit $err' exit ) causing that trouble but in git-1.4.0 its converted to 0 (git-clone.sh: trap 'err=$?; cd ..; rm -r "$D"; exit $err' 0) and i didn't realize until look again.
