Joseph, As Michael pointed out, this isn't exactly GIMP's file explorer. So your request, while understandable, is somewhat misplaced. The requst for thumbnail view is out there for a while: https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=141154 So far nobody succeeded completing the code that was written, and even then we'd have to complete the GTK+3 port first.
